Youth Friendship Jiu Jitsu Tournament - Date Change: NOW to be December 9, 2017

Youth Friendship Jiu Jitsu Tournament - Date Change: NOW to be December 9, 2017

In an attempt to get more folks involved, we've decided to move the Youth Friendship Tournament to Saturday, December 9.

All other info / details are the same. Online registration HERE.

A youth (ages 6 - 15 years old) friendship Jiu Jitsu tournament. The goal is to get each child as many matches as possible (realistically 2 to 5) in a fun, supportive, safe environment. We will be using a round robin / pool format (vs. a bracket format) for the divisions. Since the focus is on participation / doing, energy will not be on awarding places or medals.

There is a small entry fee ($5 per athlete). Online registration HERE

However, we don't want any child not to participate due to money, therefore, we have a scholarships available for those in need. (Contact Professor Tom Oberhue at coach@5rjj.com to make a request.) The proceeds go towards buying the staff and referees lunch and snacks throughout the day, as we are all volunteers.

The final deadline to register is Tuesday, Dec. 5 at 11:30 pm. This will allow for the event to be properly organized so we have an efficient, smooth running, fun event. There are absolutely no registration after the deadline.

This is a gi event. We will follow the IBJJF rules when it comes to youth, juveniles, and teens. It is presumed that the athlete and the Head Coach of the athlete know the rules. If you are unclear, please plan on attending the referee + coaches meeting at 8:30 am on the day of the event.

Schedule for the day

8:30 am               | Referee + coaches meeting
9:15 am              | Ring support meeting
10:00 am             | 6 – 7 year olds

2:30 pm              | 13 – 15 year olds

If you have any questions, please email coach@5rjj.com. This is the beginning of a great Portland area tradition.
