Martial Arts and Jiu Jitsu in Beaverton

Professor Tom Oberhue

With over 40 years of martial arts training and more than 15 years as the Head Coach and Owner of Five Rings Jiu Jitsu, I am driven by a clear purpose: to cultivate a community where individuals come together to learn, grow, and support one another through the art of jiu jitsu. My journey began in 1984, and my transition to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 1993 opened the door to countless friendships and connections within this incredible tribe.

Five Rings Jiu Jitsu is not just an academy; it’s a vibrant community focused on personal development and mutual support. I aim to create a positive and challenging environment in every class, helping students develop their skills while fostering camaraderie. I feel fortunate to share my passion for jiu jitsu and to witness the amazing transformations that happen on and off the mats.

As a proud member of the Five Rings family, I look forward to empowering our students and contributing to a beautiful culture of resilience, strength, and support. Jiu jitsu may be challenging, but with a greenhouse of support, our journeys become so much richer. Let’s train together!
