Revolution Tournament Report – November 2014
Five Rings athletes recently made the journey to Tacoma, Washington to compete at the latest installment of the Revolution tournament series. Over six hundred registered competitors made it the largest Revolution to date and every member of the team made their mark in their respective divisions.
Liz Tracy continued her unbeaten streak at the local level by once again taking home the gold medal in the adult female purple belt lightweight division. Robert Wolfe and Kevin Dadik both went to battle in their purple belt matches – each of them securing silver medals in highly competitive divisions. Also securing a silver medal was Will Acton – in his first foray into the Advanced No-Gi arena. Kaari Tattar lost a hard fought battle in the semi-finals and grabbed a bronze medal in the process.
Our brothers-in-arms also fared well – Santiago Rodriguez secured the gold medal in the blue belt heavyweight division and Adam Murray won the gold in his No-Gi division!
Other Five Rings warriors that competed included Frank “The Future” Cline, Louisa Bruschi, and Dan VanDetta. While the podium was not in the equation for them on this day, they put everything on the line when they stepped on the mats and represented themselves and their team with valor.
Not to be outdone, the Vann clan competed in the youth divisions. Hannah earned a bronze (gi) and a silver (no-gi) in her first tournament ever and Hunter won silver in her gi division. Haley found her way onto the podium twice, bringing home silver medals in both of her divisions!
Kudos to everyone that made the journey – coaches, family, friends, and athletes. It was a long, but rewarding, day and all are looking forward to the next opportunity to test their skills on the mats.
