Annual Charity Auction/Grapple-A-Thon
Five Rings Jiu Jitsu is proud to announce our 2018 Anniversary Charity Auction/Grapple-A-Thon. Our mission is to inspire health, wellness, and growth in our members and our community through grappling, fitness, and service. Due to the success of our summer grapple-a-thon fundraiser, we have added that component to our anniversary party events. This offers another way for people to contribute and have fun!
On February 2, 2018 grapplers and their supporters will gather at our main academy to raise money for our charity partner – The Dougy Center. On February 3rd, 2018 we will hold our silent auction to raise additional funds during our anniversary celebration.
The Dougy Center serves 500 children and their 350 adult family members each month. Their 68, open-ended peer support groups meet every other week and are divided by age, type of death (illness, sudden death, murder, suicide) and who died (parent, sibling). The concurrent adult support groups meet at the same time for the caregiver of the child or teen who is attending group. Since their founding, The Dougy Center has served over 40,000 children, teens and their families and has received national and international acclaim for their pioneering peer support model for helping children cope with the death of a family member. Through their National Training Program and training materials, thousands have learned how to help grieving children and more than 500 programs modeled after The Dougy Center have been established worldwide.
